A school of hope, learning, and dignity at Yamba Hearts for Uganda Center.
Uganda faced one of the longest school closures in the world during the COVID-19 pandemic lasting over two years. The impact was devastating. Many private and community schools, which depend heavily on tuition to survive, were forced to close permanently. Families lost income. Children lost learning. And hope became harder to hold onto.
As schools around us closed, Yamba Hearts for Uganda stepped in. We recognized the urgent need to give children in and around Lwanga Village a place to learn, grow, and eat consistently. A rise and Shine Junior School became that place.
Every child at A Rise and Shine receives a daily meal, which for many is their most stable and nutritious food of the day. We believe that no child can learn on an empty stomach and every child deserves a fair start.
We are proud to offer inclusive education that reflects the economic realities of our community. Our school currently supports:
👨👩👧👦 110 children whose families are able to pay full school fees
💛 170 children who attend entirely free of charge due to economic hardship
🏠 50 children who live at our center, including orphans and those who are marginalised among others.

As we continue to grow, we remain committed to our belief that every child deserves access to education, no matter their background or income level.
